This species has an area of occupancy of 109.842 km² and is found in 6-7 locations where the threat is from habitat conversion for agriculture. There is a continuing decline in extent and quality of habitat.

Habitat at the collection locality of Managalisa has been deforested for agriculture between 1600m and approximately 2000m and the collection was made at the limit of this converted area putting it at threat. Habitat conversion for agriculture is also occuring at altitudes similar to those of the collection localities within the protected areas at Rubeho, Ukwiva, Udzungwa, Ulugurus and Shume-Magamba, although at the latter the impact has been less pronounced.
