Range Description:
This species has been found in Ceylon gardens, in Tanzania and maybe in Kenya. In New Caledonia one of the two subspecies is common on the north east and in the centre of the main island (Grande Terre). The other subspecies is restricted to Noumea and suburbs.

Habitat and Ecology
This species grows in wet forest, on riverbanks at 160–600 m altitude on schists, and in dry coastal forests at 5–50 m altitude on schists and calcareous soils.

Oxera pulchella has been found in Ceylan gardens, in Tanzania and possibly also in Kenya. It is cultivated in gardens all over the world. In its native New Caledonia, one of its two subspecies (Oxera pulchella ssp. pulchella) is common on the north, east and in the center of Grande Terre. The other subspecies (Oxera pulchella ssp. grandiflora) is restricted to Noumea and its suburbs. Overall, the species is assessed as Least Concern, however Oxera pulchella ssp. grandiflora is assessed separately as Vulnerable.
