Bushy perennial herb 15-30 cm tall, with few to many erect or ascending annual stems from a woody rootstock. Stems slender, usually simple, greyish stellate-pubescent. Leaves sessile, somwhat leathery, linear to lanceolate-elliptic, 8-18 mm long, blackish above with rough stellate hairs, densely greyish stellate-hairy beneath; margin rolled under, entire. Inflorescence simple, 4-8 cm long; verticils 4-6-flowered. bracts persistent, somewhat leaf-like, up to 6 × 3 mm. Calyx 5-6 mm long, stellate-pubescent. Corolla mauve, 10-12 mm long; tube 9-10 mm long, 2,5 mm wide, slightly constricted at the throat, hairless; lower lip 2 mm long. Stamens shortly exserted, about as long as the lower lip.
