Leucas is a genus of plants in the Lamiaceae family, first described by Robert Brown in 1810. It contains over 200 species, widespread over much of Africa, and southern and eastern Asia (Iran, India, China, Japan, Indonesia, etc.) with a few species in Queensland and on various islands in the Indian Ocean.[2][1]

Erect sparsely branched herb, up to c. 1 m tall. Stems ribbed hairy. Leaves opposite, elliptic-oblong to ovate, up to c. 11 cm, hairy on both surfaces; margin crenate-serrate except near the base. Calyx deflexed, swollen at the base, 8?-toothed. Flowers in 1-4 spaced, subterminal many flowered spherical heads. Corolla up to 7 mm long, 2-lipped; upper lip transparent; lower lip white, notched. Anthers orange.

Annual or perennial herbs or subshrubs. Inflorescence of few-many-flowered, often subspherical, whorls; bracts leaf-like; bracteoles linear, ascending. Calyx tubular, 10-nerved, straight or curved, with 5-10 equal or unequal spine-tipped teeth. Corolla 2-lipped, white; upper lip usually entire and hairy; lower lip 3-lobed, the middle lobe longest. Stamens 4.
Similar to the genus Acrotome. The differences are explained under that genus.
